Common Problems and Fixes for the New Account Registration Process

After the latest game update released on 9/15/21, we are experiencing high volumes of support tickets and may not be able to respond to your case quickly. However, below is a list of common problems and their fixes relating to the update’s new account registration process that may solve your issue. Note: The team is implementing fixes periodically, so if you encountered any of these issues, please read below and try to register again. We truly apologize for the inconvenience.

  • Problem: When linking my account, I get the message “You can only link one Steam/PSN profile to one website account. This profile was linked before the update.”
    • Fix: You have a few options:
      • Option 1: If you want to collect stats for the Steam/PSN profile displayed with the game code given, please try again with the existing website account email displayed.
      • Option 2: If you want to collect stats for the Steam/PSN profile displayed with the game code given, but you DO NOT have access to the website account email displayed, please try again with a new email address in order to create a separate website account.
      • Option 3: You can only collect stats for the Steam/PSN profile displayed under the website account email displayed. Log in to Steam/PSN as that profile and launch the game to see your valid game code.

  • Problem: When linking my account, I get the message “You can only link one Steam profile to one website account. This website account already has stats associated with it.”
    • Fix: You have two options:
      • Option 1: You can collect stats for the Steam profile displayed with the game code given under the website account email displayed. Please try again with the email address displayed to link your game code.
      • Option 2: If you DO NOT have access to the website account email displayed, please try again with a new email in order to create a separate website account.

  • Problem: I linked the wrong Steam/PSN profile to the wrong America’s Army website account.
    • Fix: Accounts cannot be unlinked currently, however, this feature is being looked into being added in the future.

  • Problem: I didn’t get a game code to enter.
    • Fix: You get the game code by logging into America’s Army: Proving Grounds on your platform. It will present you with a game code and a URL address/QR code to go to so that you can link your PSN/Steam account to your America’s Army website account with that email.

  • Problem: I no longer have access to my America’s Army account email, or I want to change my account’s email.

  • Problem: I accidentally created a new America’s Army website account, and when I try to update my desired account’s email, I get the message “Email address is already in use”.
    • Fix: You have two options:
      • Option 1: You could change your “new” account email to another one of your emails that you have access to verify, which opens the email back up for you to change your desired account’s email to.
      • Option 2: You could use a service like mailinator.com to make a fake email to change the un-needed “new” account to. This opens the email back up for you to change your desired account’s email to.

  • Problem: My game code is invalid.
    • Fix: The team updated accounts to provide valid game codes, so please try to register again and see if your code is now valid. Also, make sure the code on your game screen correctly matches the one entered on the registration web screen.

  • Problem: I verified my account and email, but I still can’t log in to the game.

  • Problem: I never received the verification email.
    • Fix: Please click the button to RESEND LINK in the banner at the top of the screen. Then check your email and search your inbox/spam folder for a verification email from notifications@americasarmy.com.

  • Problem: I live outside the U.S. and don’t have a zip code to enter.
    • Fix: If you live outside of the U.S. and don’t have a zip code to enter, you can now update your country to reflect that. To do so, you have to log in and then go to account settings under the top-right menu https://www.americasarmy.com/account/settings.

  • Problem: When I launch the game on PC, I get the error message “Player authentication service is currently down please try again later”.
    • Fix: The team has implemented a fix. Please try to launch the game again and complete the registration process.

  • Problem: When I try to log in to my account at www.americasarmy.com, the LOGIN button is blank.
    • Fix: The team has implemented a fix. Please try to launch the game again and complete the registration process.

  • Problem: When I try to register my account, I get the message “The email address associated with the logged on user does not match the email address you are attempting to verify. Please login to the correct account, or resend a link for the correctly logged in user.”
    • Fix: You may have already linked that email to a different America’s Army website account. Please log out of the account you are currently logged into, and log in to your second America’s Army website account.

  • Problem: When I try to register my account, I get the message “Something went wrong. Please try again later.”
    • Fix: Your email verification link may have expired. Please go into your account, and press the button to RESEND LINK in the banner at the top of the screen. Then check your email and search your inbox/spam folder for a verification email from notifications@americasarmy.com.

  • Problem: I want to change my Soldier name.
